Year 3 Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age Learning

November 7, 2024

Our Year 3 children have impressed us with how quickly they have settled into our junior school, following their Sitwell 7 and 3 school rules. The children have worked hard to ‘be ready’ to learn, demonstrating their responsibility and resourcefulness. Their love of learning and curiosity has been infectious both in and out of the classroom.

Some highlights certainly include our hands-on history learning, where the children had to act as ‘archeologists’ and dig for artefacts, discussing what they thought it was, what it may have been used for and the material it was made from.  Another highlight was designing, constructing and evaluating their own prehistoric dwelling. The children worked collaboratively during these lessons and showcased their patience, problem solving skills and relationships.

The children have also enjoyed their Spanish food tasting, learning about Spanish culture and making comparisons with our own cultures and traditions.  We were overwhelmed by the effort you all went to. I think we have some chefs in the making! Additionally, it was fabulous having the School Library Services in school to share their vast knowledge of the Stone Age. The pupils  got hands on with the Stone Age tools, weapons and other fascinating artefacts. They were mesmerised!  Please click here to view more photos.
